Meta announced the Petal subsea internet cable connecting the United States and France.

The roughly 7,000-kilometer system will provide one petabit per second of transoceanic capacity, approximately twice that of today’s highest-capacity systems. Supported by NEC, Sumitomo Electric and Orange, it is expected to enter service in 2029.
