Researchers combining observations from NASA’s Hubble and James Webb telescopes discovered 27 previously unseen small and faint objects beyond Neptune.
Visible-light and infrared measurements showed that the smaller bodies retain the same surface-colour relationships as their larger counterparts, suggesting they may preserve their original compositions. The smallest object, approximately five kilometres wide, is five times smaller than objects detectable by the most sensitive ground-based telescopes.
