NASA has developed a new material that could support on-site manufacturing on the Moon and Mars during future missions.
Created at Glenn Research Center, it combines a biodegradable plastic with simulated lunar or Martian dust, making the material stronger and easier to process. NASA says it could eventually be used to manufacture items such as tools, structural brackets, and furniture on demand, reducing launch mass and dependence on resupply missions.
