BioNTech and Genentech will terminate a Phase 2 trial of the personalized mRNA cancer therapy autogene cevumeran in patients with surgically resected, high-risk colorectal cancer.

An independent monitoring board identified a numerical imbalance in overall survival and concluded that continuing the study was unlikely to change its efficacy outcome. BioNTech said no new safety signal was detected and a separate pancreatic cancer trial will continue as planned.
