arXiv has introduced new submission limits as AI tools contribute to a surge in low-quality and excessively fragmented research papers.

Starting October 1, 2026, each submitter is limited to two submissions per calendar month and no more than three active submissions at once. arXiv says it received a record 40,363 submissions in September 2026, roughly double the volume seen two years earlier.
