University of Washington researchers studied how children interact with generative-AI toys that can converse and remember earlier discussions. In the study of eight children aged six to 11, initial curiosity sometimes shifted to frustration and antagonism when the toys struggled with complex questions. Researchers from MIT and Motional developed CW-Net, a method that helps people anticipate when a self-driving vehicle may make a mistake. It translates decisions inside the vehicle’s AI planner into understandable concepts such as “close to cyclist” without changing driving performance. ESA and ispace-Europe began implementing MAGPIE, which is set to become Europe’s first rover on the Moon. Scheduled for launch in 2029, the rover will spend approximately 10 Earth days searching for water and other volatiles and studying subsurface geology at the lunar south pole.
